Whale watching In Tofino, BCMunu Hicken-Gaberria is the Founder and President ('guvnor') of LFT Group, which is the brand owner of the Live for Tomorrow range of environmentally friendly household products.

Munu first visited British Columbia in 1991. He was was awe-struck by the natural beauty of British Columbia.  As a recent arrival in Canada, Munu wished to see the beauty preserved for future generations.

Munu and his wife decided that they wished to lead a more environmentally aware lifestyle.

First A-Ha moment.

Household cleaners seemed to be the first and natural place to start. He quickly realized, the vast array of cleaning products and chemicals used daily were laden with harmful chemicals, this even applied to many 'green' cleaners.

Add to this, almost all the products are packaged in plastic containers and rely on the premise of being recycled - this does not always happen for any number of reasons - type of plastic, contents, recycling facilities and processors may not available.

Second A-Ha moment.

Munu went to a large electrical retailer to purchase a USB stick and was horrified how much plastic encompassed this device (which added to the cost) and additional time and equipment which was required to extract the USB stick from the plastic shell.

The idea...

Seeing how difficult businesses made it for consumers to be eco-conscious, due to their use of environmentally-damaging packaging, he began examining environmentally-neutral packaging options.

Munu wanted to offer a real alternative to those wanting to 'make a difference'. Munu felt that BC's clean water and pristine environment would not stay like this for long without a change in behavoiur and thinking. And so, Live for Tomorrow was born.

The proposition...

Munu decided that he wanted to create an organization which was focused on the triple bottom line model: People, Planet, Planet.

Certified and verified products - the product ingredients and qualities would be disclosed and tested by a third party organization;

Sustainable packaging - Packaging solutions would be reusable first, and recyclable second;

Power to do good - 1% of product sales would be used for social and environmental initiatives.
